Reduced pleasure travel, fear of getting on cruise ships now & germs on airplanes, etc. Visas are more difficult to get. Rising nationalism, particularly in countries like the U.S. Fear of quarantine & not getting home if you do go somewhere. So it is going to take a long time.
For business, we don’t have to be together in person. Technology is simple & you save travel costs. Will use more electricity, but less oil working from home. Goods being delivered by trucks using diesel fuels, not gasoline.
In the future, you could have robots or drones delivering your goods, which probably means electricity. Of course, you’ll have less gasoline use if people aren’t driving to stores as often.
Deliveries could be optimized for efficiency so you’ll use less fuel than if everyone drove themselves. Grocery delivery services – I understand that @UberEats global bookings have risen by 50%. So the world has really changed.
