So I did some digging on this spam caller I've been getting 2-3 calls from in the past few weeks....

The Caller ID claims that they're the Crescent Credit Union (spoiler, they are most definitely NOT)

They ask for a name that I can't make out because the audio quality is very low, but it's definitely not for me.

Sometimes they claim to be from the Department of Education!

Here's how often they've called me in the past couple weeks, and I'm intentionally leaving the number unblurred because I researched this further and it's a definite scam...

So, the Caller ID says Crescent Credit Union. This is a real local credit union in Massachusetts. However, their phone numbers are NOT the one seen in the screenshot that's been calling me.

So, I look up the number on Whitepages, and it's registered to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Keep in mind that if they're spoofing the Caller ID, they may be spoofing the number as well.

Look at the call volume from this number, it skyrockets in the past couple weeks so this is definitely capitalizing on the coronavirus situation right now

The number of student debt collection scams in my voicemail box and SMS is so high right now it's insane

These actors are trying to fuck over student loan borrowers during this pandemic and it pisses me off.
