With the NFL draft here, so much of a players success will come from what team/staff drafts them. Different schemes fit different players. A guy could be a star with one scheme/staff, and be terribly limited in another scheme/staff. This goes a step further too....
...take a DB who’s skill is playing more of a man scheme...if he is allowed within a zone scheme to still use aspects of who he is, ways of doing what he does well, still being physical and disrupting routes before dropping in cover 2, he can have a chance to mix/adapt & succeed.
But many times we see guys drafted & WHO they are as players be completely taken away by the ‘scheme’ having to rule, instead of allowing the player to adapt within a scheme. Where a player goes/what he’s allowed to do, allowed to mix individually within scheme plays a major role
