About 50 people at Tim Eyman’s protest at Spokane City Hall. Matt Shea among them.
Eyman’s handing out campaign signs, and asking if there are any Inslee supporters around.
A handful of Trump paraphernalia on display.
Near incessant honking, but there are number of cars just circling the block.
Lots of trucks, but also a Prius flying four American flags.
Horns have quieted and Eyman’s trying to hand campaign stickers to uninterested motorists.
Matt Shea has take the mic and is saying Washington is open for business, calls on people to push back.
Now Eyman’s on the mic. “I’m so so happy” he says that people cane out. He’s drowned out by the handful of cars circling the block and honking.
Eyman’s just laying into Inslee. This feels very much like a campaign event for Eyman.
Someone just drove by with Missouri plates, honking and thumbs up.
Freedom is the cure, a sign reads.
Eyman’s suggesting Inslee has only let businesses that have contributed to his campaign to reopen. “The large corporations,” he says.
If you want to be treated well, give Jay Inslee money, he says.
A sign: End the Fed, Drain the Swamp.
He walks back and says “public radio.” “Oh yeah?” His friend asks. I’m so proud.
The Prius lost a flag.
Next speaker is calling on Mayor Nadine Woodward to open the city because Spokane’s not like western Washington.
We thank you again for coming and spreading this message, she says.
