Dear anyone looking for a new show to binge;
Sit down a minute, have a drink, lets talk about the show I've watched 6 times and why I would die to keep it on the air.
That show is Anne With an E, on Netflix.
Irrefutable evidence to follow shortly.
Reason #1 why this show kicks ass;
If you were ever the weird kid that didn't fit in, you will relate to this show. Realistic bullying, depression, and anxiety, among other things. It somehow toes the line between "painfully raw and relatable" and "thank god it works out okay"
Reason #2:
it is faithful to the books, not that the exact same events take place, but rather it's faithful to the -spirit- of the books. It still FEELS like the original. I'll get into the things they changed and why those were ALSO great additions to the story in a second.
Reason #3:
Every time they stray from the books, they do it perfectly and for a dAMN good reason. ie, there is no LGBT representation in the books written in the 1800s. duh. but guess who definitely existed then? LGBT people. Anne With an E has two gay men and a lesbian, at least
#3 cont.:
they add things, they change things, but it is always done in the spirit of the story. Anne WOULD care about the marginalized peoples she sees being mistreated, and therefore it should be in the story. More on this point in a sec,,,
Still #3:
This is the story of a girl in the 1800s, told by a team in the 21st century. It SHOULD be using it's setting to explore issues that we dealt with then and now. Sexism, racism, homophobia, xenophobia, fUCK they cover ALOT and they somehow keep it light and uplifting!!
last #3, I promise:
when I praise the many things they did right, don't think I'm ignoring the things that were not so great. I just don't see a point in nit-picking something (cough, season 3) for being kinda awkward or a little forced. it was still GOOD.
and finally, the last reason everyone should watch this show:

that theme song fucking bOPS bruh!!!!
