Today Tennessee reported 448 new COVID-19 cases in the state, the largest daily increase since the start of the pandemic, from 6,700 tests. Yesterday 156 new cases were reported from 7,500 tests. On April 1 when 444 new cases were confirmed, 5,100 tests were reported.
The total statewide tally is now to 7,842 confirmed cases and nearly 4,000 have recovered. Unclear how many of these came from the statewide testing over the weekend or other mass testing initiatives. About 115,000 tests have been processed and reported overall.
The Dept. of Health reports 775 people have been hospitalized (2,249 reports pending) and 166 people have died across Tennessee.
Keep in mind — whereas we do not know whether this influx in cases came entirely from the mass testing over the weekend — Gov. Lee made the decision to lift the shut-in order before seeing the results from those tests.

The state's hospitalization rate, which I'm told by smart people is a metric we should be taking note of because it serves as a constant in tracking the spread, has increased by 45 people in the past two days. In early April hospitalizations were jumping by 70+ some days.
