Turns out some Nova Scotians did receive a security alert. But they are American citizens living in NS. And the alert came from the US Consulate General’s office in Halifax. Amy Crowley is a dual Canadian-American citizen who received a security alert about the shooting danger.
Crowley received the alert by email Sunday morning at 10, about 11-12 hours after the rampage after the rampage started. The notification popped up on her phone that she had an email from the consulate office and read the warning right away. She says she was “absolutely shocked.”
So then she started following the news right away, and soon saw the suspect’s photo, and learned he was driving a lookalike RCMP cruiser and wearing what looked like a real Mountie uniform. Turns out it was a genuine uniform.
The tragedy hit much closer to home when she learned the shooter had travelled from Portapique to Enfield, not far from Halifax, where he was shot dead by police. The alert has her thinking if more people had stay inside and hid, maybe some deaths could have been prevented
This is what the alert said. Here’s the first part.
And here is the second part about telling people to stay at home, lock the doors and be on guard.
