The Mayor of Las Vegas is on CNN right now, and when Anderson Cooper asked her about casinos and the spreading of Coronavirus she responds with “it sounds like you’re being an alarmist,”.

“I’ve lived a long life, I grew up in the heart of Manhattan, I know what it’s like to be on subways and on buses and crammed into elevators — “ Mayor Carolyn Goodman says before Cooper jumps in with “I’m being an alarmist?”

“I think you are by saying what you have just said,” Mayor Goodman responds. She says of course she believes there should be social distancing, but of how casinos go about doing it, “that’s up for them to figure out, I don’t own a casino,”.

Mayor Goodman says if she were the owner of a hotel she would have “the cleanest hotel with 6 feet figured out for every human” that goes into that hotel.

Mayor Goodman says it’s up to the business owners to figure out how to do things safely, says it is not the Mayor’s job.

Mayor Goodman says “it’s a responsibility of each one of us as a human being as part of the civilized world to know when we’re sick, we don’t do bad things to people at all ever”. One issue with Coronavirus tho is people can shed it without showing symptoms.

Mayor Goodman, says “we’re not getting the truth,” when being pushed about testing. She says “open up Las Vegas”.

The Mayor says the hotels, depending on who you talk to, she says the casino owners want people back to work. Says what’s happened in this country there’s so much anger.

Cooper brings up a study from China that shows how Coronavirus spreads in a restaurant. The mayor jumps in and says this is not China, this is Las Vegas. Cooper jumps back in with “that’s ignorant”.

Anderson Cooper at one point, takes his glasses off, rubs his face, and jumps back into the interview - says he understands she wants to see people get to work - but questions the safety, and trying to improve testing.

Cooper says it’s the people on the casino floor who could become infected — Mayor Goodman says “you’re talking disease, in talking life, I’m talking life and living”. Cooper says “that makes no sense,”. She says maybe it makes no sense to him but it does to the people of Vegas
