At the time, there was no clear threat to the officers' lives yet. They could've fired a warning shot or shot to incapacitate. That wasn't self-defense; that was an overkill.

If the sight of a mentally-handicapped retiree is enough to make a gun-carrying, able-bodied soldier sooooo afraid that he forgets his training, then maybe that soldier shouldn't be in the military in the first place.
"Bakit kasi di na lang sumunod sa lockdown?"

Neither the Bayanihan Act nor the Quezon City ordinance allows the military to shoot ECQ violators to death. Besides, do I seriously need to resort to legalese to explain how wrong it is to shoot an UNARMED man?
