My interest+confusion in Bounty paper towel sizing has recently intersected with having some free time on my hands.
I found this on their web site, which answered some questions and led to others. Up front, if their "Regular" roll is 1X a "leading ordinary brand," then isn& #39;t that towel datum just their own "Regular" roll? Perhaps not...if they don& #39;t manufacture a "Regular" roll....
Some examples of "Big" with its 1.33X multiplier. Note that it is sometimes has an exclamation point, and is not noted to equal 1.33 regular rolls when sold as a single. I have no explanation for the single being 33% more "plus". Some mix of exaggeration & word salad, likely.
Single Plus, and its 1.5X multiplier, is mostly straightforward. Perhaps worth noting that these are packages of Singles Plus, not Single Pluses.
Again we see that Bounty has no interest (or printing capability?) in noting a single& #39;s "regular" decimal equivalent. In fact, not only does it not promote being the equivalent of 1.5 regular rolls, it doesn& #39;t stay consistent with the "Big" single by promoting "50% more plus".
Next up according to the web site is "Super" and its 1.83X multiplier. These were the rarest size according to my research, requiring a specific Google search to come across it. I will appreciate seeing it out in the wild going forward in a way I never did before.
I didn& #39;t actually find that many "Double" (2X, obv) examples either. Perhaps the consumer is unimpressed by these, I mean when scientists back in the fifties were trying to make paper towels bigger, isn& #39;t a simple doubling the first thing they would have tried?
"Double Plus" and its 2.5X multiplier...now we& #39;re talking.
You might remember the 2.5X multiplier level from back when you were a kid as "Huge" or "Family." I like the mathematical flexibility Double Plus gives to go even bigger.
Big daddy "Triple" and its 3X multiplier. The 1=3 single standalone is a surprisingly impressive flex visual. They should all have gotten the hot red striping.
Handy graphics in case you weren& #39;t impressed enough by the Triple. Multiple ways to help people understand the tricky concept of multiplying 1 x 3.
I found some sizes that weren& #39;t listed on the Bounty site. Maybe they are no longer in production? More on that later. Here is a 1.667X multiplier.
And a 1.91667X (

2.0833X multiplier pack.

And 2.667X multiplier, AKA "Enormous." "Triple" keeps its crown as the biggest offering on a per-roll basis.
