The more I learn about environmental economics the more I come to the conclusion that a lot of companies and capitalists either ignore it or are just fucking stupid
Like probably half of all environmental initiatives can pay for themselves in ecosystem services. Why the hell aren’t we investing in mangroves for flood protection, for instance?
Or even better, instead of focusing on increasing marine fish catches, which have been STEADILY DECLINING, why not decrease the effort and expenses of catching fish and spend less buck for your bang?
A good amount of environmental solutions actually end up making financial since, even if in a slightly longer run than most companies are looking at. This is why we have biodiversity crises that don’t make economic sense.
