Some unsolicited advice for younger coaches/trainers in the private sector.

If you’re going to start your own business, avoid naming it after yourself(unless you plan on doing this literally forever), or your location.

I’ll do a thread later on why.
Okay so here’s why:
1. Nobody outside your circle knows who you are, and the market is flooded with businesses named after the owners, you’ll get lost.
2. It’s easier to enforce policies about payments and services when you “hide” behind a logo. People see it as more official and not “just *insert name*” training them
3. It makes your business easier to scale. People may want to work for the brand but not for you!
4. I can’t stress this enough: If you do not distinguish yourself and your business as being two separate entities, you will have an opportunity to sell said business if you wanted.
5. Naming it after yourself or your location leaves no room for mobility in your products or services and pigeonholes you into a very singular approach to your business
6. The common theme among entrepreneurs is that we want to create something. So here’s a formula:
-Find a vague word that could give a hint of what your business is
-Hopefully that word is 1-2 syllables
-Define that word through your company’s service and values
7. Folks should know what your business stands for by just hearing the word.
-Nike
-Rogue
-Peloton
