Thread: @108_Performance style. Not meaning to offend anyone, i love anyone willing to share & exchange ideas. But IMO hitting twitter is a dumpster fire and pitching is only a little better. My take: We’re looking for specific answers to a general question.
The baseball training industry (me included) has been on a noble, yet futile quest to find a few mechanical truth that “unlock the code.” But we’ve done so with a paltry understanding universal movement principles.
The ways to “get it done” are infinite. If you’re bad at X, you can pull it off if you’re good at Y and Z. Or you could be good at A or B and then screw up C so D sucks which inluences E. Things might be looking bad
and then all of the sudden, you throw in a REALLY GOOD F and the whole thing rights itself. The possible permutations are incalculable. The rules of movement (attractors) are more generalized than we once thought.
And their interaction is far more complex than we can imagine. When I showed Frans Bosch @fboschsystems my “8 Attractors of Pitching,” he said, “Your attractors are too specific.” He was right. They’re actually not “attractors” at all - more like performance indicators.
Frans recently asked me to edit the English translation of his new book Anatomy of Agility. It will be released in the US in late May. What I learned blew me away. It sparked another “revolution of our evolution” at the Ranch.
We’ve been applying everything I learned to our process for training pitchers & hitters. The results have been incredible. In the book, Frans shows how walking, running, agility, pitching, hitting, infield play, catching ...all follow these more over-arching movement principles.
It’s the classic example of not being able to see the forest for the trees. When we step back to these universal movement attractors, the new lens opens yet another layer that may seem complex but actually takes us one step closer simplicity and applicability.
Needless to say, I’m re-ignited and can’t wait to share what I’ve learned May 8-9 at our live stream SAVAGE Pitching Coach Certification Course. http://Floridabaseballranch.com/coach
