Yesterday at council, Moore said the Kingston region is one of the best in the country for testing per capita. #ygk

Moore said currently, there is a danger in over-testing because there is a possibility for false positives. #ygk

Moore said the region has seen its COVID-19 peak on April 1. #ygk

Right now, @KFLAPH is testing on average 60 people a day. #ygk

Coun. Jim Neil is asking if it's time to start allowing elective surgeries and opening up some of the 150 reserved beds.

Moore said we need more medication and PPE to make this move. #ygk

123 beds are currently available for COVID-19 patients in Kingston right now...some of the beds have been used for essential surgery patients or other patients. #ygk

@FPSParamedics have been testing and swabbing at the Memorial Centre Assessment Centre, according to Moore. #ygk

@KFLAPH is one the few public health agencies that went out and inspected local long-term care homes in the area to make sure they were prepared to deal with the pandemic. Moore called this a great win for the community. #ygk

Moore said this was a proactive local initiative to send out inspectors to LTC homes.

1 home was issued a notice by an inspector for not following regulations. They were threatened with a $5,000 fine. Moore said they are now following regulations. #ygk

We went into corrections facilities weekly early on, Moore said. Both federal and provincial. We have completely remobilized our teams in this region to respond to the pandemic. #ygk

Any vaccine is probably 12 to 18 months away, Moore said.

We're trying to follow when that will be available through our research team. #ygk

Reinfection appears to happen in a small amount of individuals, but Moore said we don't know why.

We can never go back to the old normal, we will always have to apply physical distancing. I don't know when theatres will reopen, same with any social environment, Moore said.

Caveat is that transmissions are controlled locally. Waiting for the rest of Ontario, Moore said. #ygk

May 12's emergency orders are up for renewal, Moore says they may lift some elements, but they won't be able to lift all restrictions because of lack of PPE and lack of appropriate testing. #ygk

Moore: we need population immunity in order to deal with the virus, this has not happened and won't happen for a while.

KFL&A Board of Health have passed a resolution to send a letter to the province asking that community gardens be considered essential.

Moore is suggesting to immunize 60 to 70% for the flu in order to help fight against co-mingling outbreaks of the flu and COVID-19 in the fall. #ygk
