I would note that the alarm at the prolonged shutdown & demand for immediate reopening on the part of right-wing interests validates @wsbgnl's view that the CARES Act's UI provisions (PUC especially) are excellent & a grave (if accidental) threat to established wealth and power.

A key demand from the left should be their indefinite renewal. I am coming around more and more to the view that this is better than "payroll support" when viewed through a worker power lens.

Though renewal of the CARES Act UI provisions should heed @sanjuktampaul & my warning: acceptance of PUA by state UI systems should be conditional on employment classification for the gig economy labor platforms.
