I don’t believe that Joe Biden is the living embodiment of decency or that he’ll restore the soul of America.

I find pressure to believe that narrative incredibly off-putting.

I also want Biden to win in November.

We will be so much better off if Biden wins than if Trump wins.

Joe Biden’s conduct during the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings was and is inexcusable.

And his work on the Violence Against Women Act was and is genuinely admirable.

I want VAWA reauthorized.

For all the damage that Joe Biden’s complicity in the Clarence Thomas confirmation has done, Biden would not have appointed him or anyone like him.

Donald Trump has put an even worse judge on the SCOTUS and has been stacking the federal courts with similarly awful judges.

I would rather have a president who has sometimes been complicit with patriarchal theocrats than a president who has devoted massive amounts of time and effort to helping patriarchal theocrats take over the government.

Joe Biden wants to expand healthcare access, both in terms of infrastructure and insurance coverage.

Donald Trump has been trying to destroy access to healthcare since the first hours of his administration.

Trump has also made this pandemic much worse than it had to be.

Donald Trump is corrupt. He uses government agencies to enrich himself and tries to dismantle everything that could hold him accountable.

Joe Biden will uphold his oath of office and follow the law.

Among other things, Biden will appoint competent advisors and listen to them.

I don’t believe in ‘restoring the soul of America’. I’m more on the side of #WeWontGoBack.

But Biden can’t actually take us back to the time he’s nostalgic for — women aren’t going to give up their power and let Congress turn back into a genteel good old boys club.

We can work with Joe Biden on some issues and fight him on the others.

We have to fight Trump on everything.

I’m tired of spending so much time fighting desperate battles to stop Trump from destroying things.

With Biden, we can actually make some real progress.

I don’t need to believe over the top narratives about restoring the soul of America in order to understand what’s at stake in this election and act accordingly.
