In the last two days I've had 3 people turn down $20/hour and 20 hours/week because they don't want to lose their unemployment

As it stands currently, I'm competing with the government as an employer. And the government is willing to pay more money to do nothing.

Had the country instead given out cash - a temporary UBI - my offer of employment would be additive, not competitive.
