Ugh. Just accidentally deleted a thread on Oklahoma restaurants reopening for dine-in on May 1. Here we go again:
If it’s 5/1 that means restaurants have to restock inventory, rehire people making more on unemployment, buy thousands of dollars of PPE a week all in less than 10 days. Then they deal with reduced seating that will generate lower revenue.
Plus they have to rehire folks making more in unemployment the next couple months than they will working, especially with reduced seating and likely weary consumer confidence.
Restaurant workers will supposedly be required to change face masks every few hours. That means at least 30-40 masks a day for many restaurants. Plus they need thermometers that are in extreme short supply.
It will be up to business owners, but many have landlords who are expecting back rent as soon as they can reopen. Many businesses are still waiting on the loan payment to help them get started.
