Updates based on @ForumPoll @MainStResearch second COVID-19 symptom poll- Ontario April 18-19 (n=4,260):

This week 15% (down from 19% last week) of households have someone experiencing symptoms of possible COVID-19. This week 9% (up from 5%) of these have been tested. 1/6
Because 50% of COVID-19 cases are thought to be asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic, it was important to be ++ inclusive in defining "symptoms". A symptom was any of: fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, headache, diarrhea, loss or taste/smell. 2/6
Using a more narrow definition of any of fever/cough/shortness of breath 5% (down from 8% last week) of households reported someone with these symptoms. Among these same households, 17% (up from 10%) reported COVID-19 testing of households members. 3/6
Compared to last week this wave of polling shows a decrease in the proportion of households reporting
symptoms of COVID-19. At the same time, symptomatic households are reporting testing at almost twice last
week's rate. This is great! 4/6
These findings are encouraging, but it's too early to conclude that the symptomatic curve is being flattened. There is still room to expand COVID-19 testing among community-dwelling Ontarians with symptoms. 5/6
