Lots of talk about campuses reopening for fall. I understand why they will want to reopen and assuming they do, seems to me that each campus should (thread):
.) Mandate flu shots and proof of flu shots with free shots on campus for employees and students
.) Give away facemasks at every opportunity with the university logo
.) Order copious amounts of sanitizer and stuff and station everywhere, in every room, at every stairwell
.) Reconfigure classrooms and ventilation where possible
.) Shrink classes by moving more to the evening hours
.) Boost pay for instructors of large sections
.) Push donations to catastrophic leave and include all university employees
.) Spread out rolling leave when the university has to close again in the winter because of Coronavirus Round 2
.) Have a better plan for international students (if they ever come back to study in the US, which, let's face it, is a leap)
.) Work to build state capacity for PPE for Round 2 through university health systems
.) Include private rural health care professionals more fully in university life so that the rural health systems don't crash
.) Hire more mental health professionals PLEASE
Add your suggestions. Because it would be nice to have a plan this time.
