okay so now lemme rant about one of my fav kagehina concepts: trust
first of all: hinata was the first person who had totally trust in kageyama, and this trust and faith in him lead kageyama to trust others as well which became a turning point for his development not only as a player but as person as well

there’s obviously a long way to go tho
i love that you can immediately see how those words clicked in as he stepped out for hinata and said things he would have never said back in middle school

that was his true first step into his development and it was because of hinata. *takes tissues*
kageyama didn’t learn how to trust hinata out of nowhere tho. he wasn’t trusting him. he was trusting his own abilities only.

kageyama was USING hinata’s trust for his crazy plays to work and he kept doing that even during their first tournament
but oikawa, being the smart person he is, understood what was going on. he understood that kageyama was just now learning to get trusted by others but still wasn’t giving away the same trust and it’s because of this that oikawa could read tobio and defeat him.
this whole situation obviously clashed in their 2 fights, where shoyo wanted to step up but tobio was still too affected by his trauma to even think about it as an option

to notice how shoyo never once blamed tobio but himself only bc his trust for him never faded away
and then? the fight totally hit in kageyama’s feelings. so much that he begged oikawa to help him out and give him some advices. and oikawa straight told him that had to learn how to trust and respect his teammates in the same way shoyo already does
and that’s what tobio starts trying to do by practicing on a toss that would have helped hinata, checking out his conditions while playing games, respecting his desires and doing his best to be useful to him
obviously a change can’t happen out of sudden. tobio happens to unconsciously give up while facing a difficult challenge but hinata again, who has total faith in him doesn’t allow him to slack off in the slightest

kageyama acknowledged this and kept working.
they eventually succeeded :)
and even if the result of their work and effort is still not perfect hinata, again, has NO fear that they won’t manage to perfect their new attack. instead, for him is just totally OBVIOUS that they will.
the whole re crown scene was the final step for kageyama to overcome his fears. he’s now finally someone ready to trust the others, doing his best for them and expecting the same thing back *takes a lOT of tissues*
“the old kageyama would’ve been panicking right about now, trying to do everything by himself”

the new kageyama takes the challenge, he’s confident in himself and his hitters and put all his trust in his play.

“SHOW THEM WHY I HAVE FAITH IN YOU”
last but not least important thing:
IT HAS CHANGED.

in the middle of an official match, at NATIONALS, tobio pulled out a new attack that has never tried before, with no guarantees of success, despite having other attacks from both sides that were working. why? to help hinata out and to pursue his job as a setter.
yet the attack fails.
so what? he does it again.
he puts ALL his faith in hinata and he eventually succeeds
now kageyama is the player he always dreamed to be, he has total trust in his hitters.

and this all happened thanks to hinata shoyo
in conclusion: i love them.
