What's interesting is that the information coming out of the state got seems to have shifted in both content and tone after the excitement of last week. https://twitter.com/CJOnline/status/1252955956373327873
Beginning Maundy Thursday and continuing for a week, there were rumblings and plans for protest and vocal discontent about the way Kelly was handling the lock down. In my view, the biggest issue was a lack of clear communication concerning plans for the future.
Anecdotally, the overwhelming feeling behind the opposition was that people felt dismissed by the powers-that-be, that we peons didn't warrant being told what the plans were. That has changed.
Now it seems that that Kelly et al are giving information much more freely concerning our current state and what future plans are, and how they will change as the situation evolves. This is good. Being open and honest is necessary.
And that leads to the tone of the conversation. Leading up to Easter, the conversation between the people, Legislature, and governor was combative and oppositional.
While some of this certainly is a continuation of the pre-pandemic relationship between the parties, if you look the attitudes at the start to how they developed, it is clear that a lot of the frustration stemmed from a lack of clear communication from the governor.
That, combined with those preexisting attitudes, led to a rapid escalation in tension. This was not good. Thankfully, it seems both sides have calmed down a bit and communication is much more clear and open. Hopefully it continues that way.
