People I admire often say:

1. I am not driven by https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="đź’´" title="Banknote with yen sign" aria-label="Emoji: Banknote with yen sign">
2. I don’t care what people think
3. I used to be a perfectionist
4. I aim to be fearless

Perhaps, focusing on https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="đź’´" title="Banknote with yen sign" aria-label="Emoji: Banknote with yen sign">, caring what others think, perfectionism, & fear has gotten them to a point in their life to not focus on that.
We so often focus on what those we admire do today while ignoring some of their “dark sides” that got them there.
The journey of success is more interesting than the outcome.

Also, who you are today is a direct response to who you have been. Doesn’t mean you can’t or shouldn’t shift, but appreciation for some of the dark sides is so important.
All too often I hear “successful” people talk about who they are once on top of the mountain and how wish they knew then what they know now. But, I would argue if they did, they would be in a different place today (not necessarily better or worse, but different).
It’s so key to have an understanding of who we are, how we got here, and who we want to become. All are related.
It’s why taking advice from others without locating where you are, have been, and where you want to go is so important.

Location is massive. It’s why advice often falls short if you don’t have clarity on the above.
