Issue : significant increase in the number of women footballers (UK Lang for soccer players) suffering Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL)
“Relative energy deficiency in sport, a syndrome found in sportswomen who have symptoms of disordered eating, absent periods and loss of bone density will be among other topics examined. “
Hes aware of the increasing role of the menstrual cycle is thought to play on ligament injury. “people are talking about these female athlete-specific issues and there are some undeniable changes that are unique to females and clearly related to stages of the menstrual cycle,”
“...a study in Feb to determine how joint laxity & lower-limb stiffness are influenced by different stages of the menstrual cycle.
The study also examines how fluctuating hormones, esp oestrogen, might impact on collagen –the structure that provides stability to a ligament”

Women’s bodies are different from men’s bodies. female athletes need their own studies and research, specific types of physical training , and they need to protect their oestrogen levels in order to preserve their ligaments
Related: how might FTM transition (puberty blockers and/or testocerone), which suppresses natural oestrogen, affect bone density, joint laxity, lower-limb stiffness, and collagen- the structure that provides stability to a ligament? Perhaps sports medicine can shed some light.
