Why I am proud of my student:
1. She learned reading IPA sounds to help herself in reading new words faster. She studied this long before I became her regular go-to tutor.
2. She makes it a point to create a summary of our daily news articles. Every day.*

3. There was time that her internet connection was so bad, but she pushed through. There was heavy rain that made her connection unstable. Good thing, she knows how I conduct our lessons, so she would confirm the instructions through our chat box.
4. She is from the boomer generation but her opinions are radical and logical. She can see the flaws, social constructs, norms that aren't good in her culture, and her opinions are always on point, and it always leans to helping and understanding the situation of those in need.
5. She is still craving for knowledge at her age. She wants to improve herself and continue to sustain a healthy lifestyle while trying to learn new things.
6. Because of #5, she can maintain her house and I mean all maintenance issues. She can even repair her own house???

7. She keeps a journal for every word she learns, and I think she also writes their IPA to remember how they are pronounced.
8. She is never afraid to be honest if she feels tired. She is not afraid to tell me if she doesn't understand. She is not afraid to be wrong.

10. She is always my last student for the day, and always asks how my day went. Her concern about my health is really touching. She reminds me to stretch and to do exercise because I sit for about 12 hours a day, and I might have a problem with my backbone if I don't.

Bonus: She is one of my students that makes me stay in the current company I work for. It is really important to be trusted as a tutor and it is where you get energy to teach. Her trust in me is reflected on how she chose me as her tutor every single day, since March.

*How did I know? She was a little bit upset when I said we didn't have enough time for the summary. She said, "Aw. That's my favorite question." Then, I heard rustling of a piece of paper. SIS?! HANDWRITTEN?! ANO?!
I just extended our time so that I could check her summary.
