I'm trying to give this tweet, a shape, I mean, for a good reading, but hell, there's plenty coming from all directions.

Today is the birthday of
#AmmuSwaminathan, who herself was involved in freedom struggle &
who gave Nationalist daughter & Anti nationalists grand children
Ammu was born in a large, but poor family of 13 children at Palakkad, Kerala on 22 April 1894, they were Nair's, her father died when she was young, she had no formal education except for learning Malayalam basics at home & was married for a Subbarama Swaminathan when she was 13
Swaminathan, an Iyer, was 33 at that time whose extended stay abroad and financial situation had prevented him from marrying.
THE @FeminismInIndia vultures deliberately removes the episode of Swaminathan, without him Ammu would've never achieved what she is today.
Ammu's life was transformed and blossomed under the tutelage of her husband. Subbarama Swaminathan both indulged and nurtured his much younger wife and encouraged her talents. He appointed tutors to teach her English and other subjects at home. Subbaramu Swaminathan also pushed
his wife Ammu to follow MKGandhi & involve in freedom struggle. In 1930 Dr. Swaminathan passed away leaving behind Ammu & 4 children.
Ammu was one of the 15 women members of constituent assembly.
The couple had 4 children, 2 boys, 2 girls.
The boys did well for themselves, but the girls became world-renowned.
#CaptLakshmiSahgal , the blue eyed girl of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Dancer #MrinaliniSarabhai who married to Vikram Sarabhai.
Whereas #AmmuSwaminathan was
in Vellore jail heeding to Gandhi, her daughter Lakshmi Swaminathan was fighting along with Netaji at that time.
Ammu after independence became a RS Member from Tamil Nadu & on 4 July 1978 attained Mukti.

The most disturbing fact is 2 Known Communists & Urban Naxals
Subhashini Ali & Mallika Sarabhai are her grand children.

I read this piece by Subhashini Ali & was like, thoo, how she is deliberately shaming her fathers family since he was Brahmin... Their life...Thoo
