Brown's inflation comments here are a big deal. First time I've seen a politician of his generation and calibre, let alone his legacy, suggest that 2% inflation targeting should be rethought.
"...To a large extent inflation is no longer the problem that it was. And I think when people recognise that inflation is not in the near term, and perhaps the medium term, the problem it was, it allows more flexibility in economic policy."
