Hospitality is the third largest industry in the UK. The current situation has left hundreds of thousands out of work, and business owners all along the supply chain in an uncertain future. Many will be pushed below the poverty line. This piece is callous. https://twitter.com/IndyVoices/status/1252925869762334720
It's another piece that pushes the neoprohibitionist idea that alcohol is a drug and it's bad because it kills people, without looking at the root cause of *why* just that it does. The real problem is socio-economic imbalance exacerbated by Tory austerity.
Do those with an alcohol dependence who also exist below the poverty line get the same treatment, care and support than those who are well off? Of course not. But statistics will win you an argument faster than looking at the impact caused over decades by societal imbalance.
I seem to have morphed into @CraftBeerCommie for a moment.
Anyway in the immortal words of the great Chris Morris: "alcohol's not a drug, it's a drink."
