Why curfew not total lockdown?
We have a largely informal economy; total lockdown means people who live on daily earnings won’t be able to earn. Government can’t provide for everyone.

The aim is to restrict movement. Question is what usually happens at night? Hanging out in nightclubs, vigils… these are events that bring people together in large numbers and can lead to easy spread of the disease.

Curfews don’t work in isolation in Oyo State, there are other directives e.g restricting movement in and out of the state, directing that only essential service providers should be open, ensuring proper hygiene services and more recently, wearing of masks in public spaces.
