My updated estimate of British public opinion on immigration since the 1980s.
Higher values indicate more of the population expressing negative views about immigrants/immigration across questions from @BESResearch, @NatCen& #39;s BSA, the @ESS_Survey, @evs_values and @ValuesStudies.

That cliff-edge decline in negativity over last 10 years tells the story of a rapid overall warming of British attitudes toward immigrants/immigration since the high-water mark of BNP support.
That& #39;s no coincidence: I make a causal argument about it here: https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/politicsandpolicy/pro-and-anti-immigrant-sentiments/">https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/politicsa...

Finding such a steep decline in British anti-immigrant views/sentiment is nothing shocking or new - it fits perfectly with other evidence presented/discussed by esteemed colleagues and friends such as @robfordmancs, @drjennings, @jon_mellon, @sundersays, @p_surridge, and others.
The aggregation method I used is Prof Jim Stimson& #39;s & #39;dyad-ratios calculator& #39;. You can find the tool and its documentation here: http://stimson.web.unc.edu/software/

Couple of important caveats:
- This line is not measuring racism, nor individual experiences of discrimination/hostility.
- Though there has been a big decline in negative views/attitudes, even by this estimation 40%+ are still showing negativity.
- Margins of error apply.
