oh fuck i just realized a possible reason some people are handling quarantine better than others hahaha holy shit it’s a class divide.
survival relies on building certain habits that in a financially stable world would be considered unhealthy.

low wage workers are good at talking ourselves into doing something we hate AND immediately/deliberately/quickly avoiding thoughts that would lead to dysfunction.
those two things are what get us out of bed and on the floor, and it’s what gets folks to handle quar a lil easier. like i’ve got bouts of anxiety about finances but i’m not having a meltdown over it. i have control over when and how i engage with that problem.
financially stable people aren’t experiencing much financial anxiety (if any) but they certainly haven’t built up the ability to stay doing something they hate. all those protesters to reopen the economy are bosses and owners, not the workers. wonder if this plays into that.
you’re cranky because you never needed to learn how to utilize apathy.
also this does not at all mean folks in precarity will come out of this better. we’ll be significantly fucked up, like massively intensified financial distress plus class-wide PTSD amid a society that says “what are you freaking out about everything’s normal again!”
*smacks table* thus is my vision!

now we wait 3-6 weeks for someone more established to get walked to this same conclusion/observation because for some reason that’s what always fucking happens
