[THREAD] Premier League forwards 19/20: Weak foot/head usage in shots + goals

• Over 50% of Vardy’s shots + goals are with weak foot/head
• Maupay 3rd most all-round goal-scorer
• Sterling scores well with weak foot/head but doesn’t shoot often using either

( @UnderstatXG)
🇫🇷 Maupay has shot predominantly with his strong foot (right) this season - 54.43% of the time.

Yet, he’s scored more goals with his left foot and head each (3) than with his right foot (2) 🎯

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 The league’s top scorer (19 goals) Jamie Vardy uses his strong foot the second lowest amount of any player sampled.

Albeit not to the same rate, he scores weak foot (7) and headed goals (3) too.

A real triple threat 🎯

🇳🇿 Ex-Brighton loanee Chris Wood leads the way from a heading perspective - 35.85% of his shots this season have been headed, the most of any player in the league.

He’s scored the most headed goals too - 5.

Danny Ings has had a fantastic season - he’s 5th top scorer.

He boasts a 37.5% conversion rate with strong foot shots, that’s the best of all PL forwards with 8+ goals.

Richarliason is deserving of more technical praise. Just 2/10 goals he’s scored this season have been with his ‘strong’ right foot.

He‘s good against Brighton, in particular. 3 goals against us in the PL is a total only bettered by 3 players.

Calvert-Lewin, too, has shown good all-round ability.

He’s one of just 3 players with 8+ goals to have a conversion rate of 20%+ with the left foot, right foot and head.

One for Euro 2021?

⚖️ Callum Wilson is perfectly balanced in his shooting output:

- 14 left foot shots
- 14 right foot shots
- 14 headed shots

Whilst he’s scoring predominantly (5/8 goals) with his right foot, this shows the value of an all-round striker in a relegation battle.

Interesting to see how reliant the divisions top players in Salah, Aguero, Rashford and Aubameyang are with their strong foot in shooting and scoring.

Clearly having one excellent foot is the same as two good feet and/or a good head.
A slightly different thread - but I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback.

Are these differences in play style clear visually? Do you think they’re important? Let me know!
