A good friend of mine pernah ask me what i think about refugees coming to our country. I said i didn't know too much about it but i think it's generous of our country to help them, but myb the resources don't seem to be enough. She then raised a really great point; she said
"I was reading about the sirah of how the muhajirin came to madinah. Rasulullah's first stratgy was to pair the muhajirin with a keluarga angkat among the ansar. And you know the story of abdul rahman auf? Yang 'kluarga ansar' dia sanggup bagi half his wealth for him to settle..?
"what if the secret to the success of hijrah was that the ansar had 'shared' their wealth by merging into this 'buddy system', rather than 'providing a new space' for the muhajirin?"

I was..astounded..by how true her words rang.
She sambung "What if the reason why we think taking in refugees is a burden, is bcs we're trying to 'create a space for them' rather than taking them in as one of our own?"

I was honestly left speechless. She was right. Rather than having economic burden to the country,
we'd probably be able to save more resources just by *sharing*.

I know we worry a lot about 'outsiders' coming into our country. And the 1st reason anyone would disagree with all the above is bcs of 'safety'.

Just thought we could take a step back to see how kindness helps.
The kindness of the ansar was traded for the trust and support of the muhajirin.

Don't know if anyone would read this. I'm sharing this bcs of the amount of dislike some people are showing against refugees in our country, calling them a burden.

Be kind.
