On #EarthDay2020 , we'd like to share some of the brilliant things MEETinLEEDS and the University are doing to operate more sustainably.
MEETinLEEDS are working with the @UoL_Sus to develop a blueprint plan. This process has identified sustainability impacts and opportunities for MEETinLEEDS as part of a bespoke action plan to ensure we operate as sustainably as possible.
The Green Tourism Business Scheme is a national sustainable tourism certification scheme. Many of our venues and residences have have won Gold Green Tourism awards. https://bit.ly/2Y00N9N
'Living it Green' was created by Residential Services to reduce our impact on the environment by reducing energy consumption and waste, encouraging the use of different forms of transport and promoting positive impacts on other environmental issues. https://bit.ly/2XSoBwl
In 2018 @UniversityLeeds and @LeedsUniUnion pledged to become single-use plastic-free by 2023. One million pieces of single-use plastic have been removed from use across the University and Union during the first year of the pledge.
our friends at @GreatFoodLeeds have also been reducing single-use plastic waste items, including disposable cups and plastic salad boxes!
