List of how several UK Universities have shafted PhD students during Coronavirus:

•Cancelled PGR teaching for the next year
•Closed libraries etc. without providing funding to buy critical resources
•Continued with standard progress review processes

#AcademicChatter
•Refused any kind of extensions unless students have contracted the virus AND it’s caused major medium-long term disruption
•Told students that if they need to they can take out an ‘interruption of studies’ without any acknowledgment of the financial implications this has
•Told students that while they appreciate the situation is tough, the disruption of a lockdown caused by global pandemic killing just shy of 1000 people a day is already accommodated within the registered period of study
•Frozen hiring, so there isn’t even a competitive a job market to graduate into
Anyone got anything else to add to the list? I know there will be more. @UWankings @BantshireUni @AcademicChatter
Tbh I feel for supervisors, PGR directors, heads of school etc who have been lumped with dealing with the fallout of bad and unethical decisions made by people in higher management positions. @ucu
