Coronavirus has hit thousands of students in the pocket. We have long known that student maintenance support is inadequate, and the government has failed to address the various cost of living crises for students in everything from housing to transport to course costs. (1)
Students have long been expected to rely on income from employment, family, or commercial debt to pay their way through education. For many, COVID-19 has meant that these income streams are in jeopardy. No student should be forced to rely on exploitative debt to get by. (2)
The disruption to education that the Coronavirus pandemic has caused is significant.

We urgently need a package of financial support to stop students and apprentices falling into poverty and out of education. #StudentSafetyNet 🔊

Don’t let students fall through the cracks. (3)
WHAT DO WE WANT?

- A nationwide hardship fund for all current students (including HE, FE and apprentices)

- A financial support package for those leaving education including grants to help provide additional training and skills development

#StudentSafetyNet (4)
- Chance for students at all levels of education to retake the academic year, at no additional cost, receiving full maintenance support

- Commitment from the gov. to write off the year of debt or reimburse the year of fees
