don't mean to cause any offence by bringing this up but i am TIRED of seeing semi-viral tweets about how people dont "recognise the impact of vocaloid" (on music or otherwise, i guess?) when in fact it's been the opposite for a few years now. it's no longer a middle school phase.
you have people who started on the vocaloid scene such as kenshi yonezu and n-buna (with his unit yorushika) who are some of the MAJOR non-idol acts j-pop right now. eve, USSS and after the rain also have experience in the scene and are wildly popular.
deco27's creative team just recruited teddyloid to great praise. jin is involved in original anime work. even "newer" producers such as balloon (keina suda) and uki3/ewe (yoh kamiyama) do anime openings and songs for commercials.
anyone dismissing it as "music for weebs" just wants attention or is unaware (or ignorant to!) of its relevance in the mainstream. this also applies to media coverage of events such as miku expo; you can't expect a reporter to be immersed in the subculture to the extent you are.
anyway, you can't say vocaloid is dead or irrelevant when we recently got one of the greatest remix collabs ever made! why not Stream This, as you kids say.
