One minister told me yday govt would def hit the 100k target on capacity, but on the number of tests carried out it wasn't clear yet although they were still hopeful

Suspicion that govt might be changing the target to capacity, rather than tests actually carried out

The 100k target is politically important as a big public promise from govt, but also, it's a stepping stone to the much bigger numbers of 500k or even a million a day that might be needed as we gradually, at some point, come out of lockdown
