We are aware that there is some news circulating about the @UniofOxford committing to divest, and while we would like to be celebrating right now, we cannot. Oxford has previously committed to a partial divestment, and the newest resolution passed through the congregation (1/4)
is a slight expansion on that commitment. What it fails to do is to take the step of committing to full divestment, as 67 uk universities already have: it advocates for engagement with fossil fuel companies through their fund manager, (2/4)
with the prospect of divestment in the future. We have never considered this as an appropriate response to the issue, and we cannot count this as a full divestment.
