MAGUIRE v LINDELOF, a thread:
I’m going to take these stats for the premier league ONLY. as this is the most consistent reflection of a player, playing most often against similar level of opponents. note these are all stats and may not be entirely representative of the players in terms of qualitative data.
DEFENDING (non-aerial)

Maguire boasts 53 interceptions, the highest of any top 6 CB, compared to a measly 19 from lindelof who has only played 3 less games. Maguire also has DOUBLE the tackles won. Lindelof edges maguire’s blocks per game by a mere 0.02.
DEFENDING (aerial)

Maguire has 41 more clearances in only 3 more games as well as nearly double the headed clearances. lindelof’s weakness in this department has cost us valuable points this season. Maguire again has nearly double the aerial duels won this season.
PASSING/TEAMPLAY (1/2)

both of these players are very good at playing the ball, with lindelof edging the passing accuracy by under 0.5% , note that he also has more passes backwards as well as less passes and touches.
PASSING/TEAMPLAY (2/2)

Maguire is more effective in creating chances, as he has created more big chances and also has more assists. he’s often the link between our defense and midfield/attack.
DISCIPLINE

Maguire’s one criticism can be that he gives away more fouls than necessary however, with his size and the way he gets close to the attacker, this is common (even if not desirable). Maguire also has an odd 6 offsides, this is due to him being a target at set pieces.
Also, we have conceded 12 less goals this season than we had after the same amount of games last season. obviously there is credit to AWB there as well, but lindelof was a key player in last season and our lack of defensive quality.
end of thread.
