The tweets cited don’t amount to false news or misinformation as they are based on an Indian Express news report. These FIRs are yet another instance of the ruling establishment attacking the right to free speech and trying to silence critics of majoritarian politics. https://twitter.com/ipurohitharshal/status/1252891944474140673
The organised silencing of free speech of dissenters in India, starting with political leaders to Twitterati, is the slow but steady undoing of Indian democracy. That these FIRs have been lodged is shocking. I stand in solidarity with @Vishj05 and @Nehr_who.
The day is not far when a lot more of us will have to go run around police stations and courts explaining that our comments on news reports don’t amount to fake news or misinformation. Occasionally we’ll have to go to jail too. Every day in India gets darker.
It is clear that the very fount of fake news — the BJP and its deniable proxies — are going to use fake news as a false excuse to go after ideological critics.

One precaution people might take is to always quote news reports with links, and make it clear they are quoting.
