Dear @OladeyiEmmanuel, you asked for a dental hygiene thread. Here we go.

If you had to choose between one of these to clean your teeth, which would you choose?
If you chose toothpaste, I understand. The cleansing ability of toothpaste coupled with the fresh breath it gives and its fluoride content that helps to remineralize or solidify teeth are an essential part of toothbrushing.
However, effective toothbrushing requires the gentle cleansing action of a toothbrush which helps to remove the adherent bacterial plaque. They will not come off without a small fight.
So if you chose toothbrush, you’re correct.
What type of toothbrush should you use?
Remember that your teeth are covered by soft, fleshy gums.
Imagine what would happen if you used a hard brush against your soft, fleshy gums.
You should always use a medium textured toothbrush. It’s not as soft as a baby’s toothbrush, but it’s certainly not as hard as a smokers or household scrubbing brush.
Also, be gentle while you brush. Teeth, not gutter please dears.
What type of toothpaste should you use?
An important component of toothpaste is fluoride. It’s why we can not do away with toothpaste.
Fluoride is a mineral (Remember it from your periodic table). It is able to penetrate tooth and form part of its matrix to strengthen it.
Herbal toothpastes mostly do not contain fluoride and will not confer the healing property of fluoride after bacteria dissolve tooth minerals. You need a loss - gain balance to keep your teeth free of holes.
Finally, stop spending money on toothpaste weekly!
You only need a pea sized amount to achieve proper cleaning.
