Second, saying that “mixed people don’t know what it’s like to be POC” is some bullshit on its own because hi, here I am, a mixed POC. Fuck off.

Third, saying that race is purely phenotypes and “if you look white you are white” is nonsense because on that basis, I have to accept whatever stupid guesses people make of me as my Race of the Day?

If someone says I look Hispanic, does that make me Hispanic now? Like, your logic makes no sense. I was much paler as a child than I am now. Did I grow out of whiteness?

Fourth, ethnicity ain’t got shit to do with skin color. People have moved around. Genes are weird and pop up randomly. I have cousins that are my same color, and both their parents are straight up just Black. I know someone mixed with Chinese and Black

who’s darker than me. I know someone who’s mixed with Italian and Black who’s a lot lighter. That shit doesn’t mean anything. Genera do what they wanna do.

Fifth, whiteness is fake. Whiteness is a social construct based on majority acceptance, not phenotypes. Jews aren’t generally considered white (see: Trump deciding Jews are a race now for legal purposes).

The Irish and Italians weren’t considered white for a really long time and had to do some deeply fucked up things to get there. The shit is fake, it’s not based on what you look like, it’s based on acceptability by the group in power.

There was talk in some conservative circles of having “Caucasian” also include East Asian people, so that it would look like “white” numbers were up, so to make sure they stay the majority group. They were willing to fold *some* Asians into whiteness

for their benefit, like they did with the Italians and Irish. Would that make Chinese people white then? Since if people say you’re white, that makes you white, if the census decided to redefine Caucasian to mean European and Asian,would you accept whiteness?
