Not to be discoursey on main but I feel a lot of the discourse around identity and stuff has a very american edge to it due to the nature of the sites we used like twitter and tumblr and who we interact with
Like the discourse around reclaiming slurs or assimmilation often feels like a very american queer scene take on it and their cultural norms and cultural goals are very diffrent and vary from class to class or state to state
Sure there are some common threads but I wish certain people would see things how they pertain to the UK and not see America discourse and assume its the universal queer experience
This thread wasnt inspired by anything on twitter. It was inspired by a conversation I had with an aussie friend and their experience but also how different our subcultures were in regard to stuff like terms and what we face
