How much do you think big publishing will change business practices post-pandemic - in terms of being London-centric & everyone working in the office?
I think the 'problem' with book publishing that other industries just don't have is - a never-ending number of bright young things who are desperate to work in the industry and able/happy/willing to earn a fairly low wage AND a never-ending supply of authors......
who want to be published and are also able/happy/willing to earn very low ££ (mostly) for the privilege/kudos of being published. Big publishing has an abundance of people feeding the industry, and they NEVER have to fight for any of it.
