One reason we can't deal with major crises is that we're essentially a gerontocracy. The power structure of the west is just old conservatives doing evil stuff & old liberals mounting hapless opposition. When you lock out the energy & ideas of <45s you become a decrepit society

Tbh this is also one way of reading the failure of Corbynism. Corbyn himself was always frankly too old for the role of radical reformer & there was literally just RLB in the line of succession. From Blair on both left & right of Lab did terrible job of giving young voices power
