Stopped for a sandwich a few days back & started conversation with guy in queue. He is an importer/supplier of #PPE.
He told me he has tried several times to make contact with government & never received any response despite having a large amount of #PPE in stock./1
This #PPE supplier was contacted by the Health service (HSE) in Dublin recently & sold them a large quantity of #PPE after just one quick call and an emailed photo of the pallet of stock. Again the UK government did not respond./2
This #PPE supplier sold stock to two intermediaries who sold some equipment on directly to 2 NHS Trusts at a profit. His further attempts to offer stock to local & national government/Trusts directly were unsuccessful./3
Right when my NHS community colleagues & I were forced to see patients with no #PPE equipment, this #PPE supplier was phoning and emailing the government offering #PPENow. Again the UK government did not respond./4
I tried to connect this #PPE supplier with local Trust. They responded to say 'thanks but no thanks'. Even though it was a disappointing automated reply, at least they replied.Unlike our government who did not so much as respond to multiple offers on the part of suppliers./5
Yesterday, @mattHancock justified not responding to 8000 companies offering #PPE in months when #NHS Staff had little or no protection. He gave an example of one supplier who had formed a company days before, implying that it was dodgy pop up profiteers making all these offers./6
On the same day @MattHancock excused government inaction on all the 8000 offers of #PPE by implying these offers were shady or inappropriate, this very decent #PPE supplier told me to drop by his factory and gave me free #PPE equipment for my NHS team./7
@mattHancock What happened to 'no expense spared' and why did you not follow up on thousands of offers of #PPE when #NHSstaff were forced to have contact with patients wearing no protection and needlessly dying? /8
Considering the government are 'delaying the science' on everyone wearing masks when in public until we get supply lines sorted for healthcare staff, you'd have thought every #PPE offer & avenue would be explored and locked down for use in our #covid19 war effort? /9
The kind #PPE supplier that donated free masks to our #NHS team yesterday is sending big pallets of #PPE stock abroad today. That is because you don't respond to emails, phone calls & offers of #PPE @MattHancock. Why is that, really? /10
Although you have now distanced yourself from responsibility for #PPE @MattHancock, you owe it to those #PPE suppliers & manufacturers to at least respond. Maybe say 'thanks for your kind offer of #PPE but for reasons unknown to most, we must decline.Sell elsewhere'.

If by any chance this thread gets retweeted enough times that wholesale purchasers of #PPE read & are in need, feel free to DM me for the contact details of this #PPE supplier. That offer extends to you @MattHancock so put the cricket bat down & answer your bloody phone.
