Morning all
For my contribution to today’s #MuseumsUnlocked I’d like to share some images from my trip to Amgueddfa Abertawe @swanseamuseum a really great place to visit. 1st we’ll be heading into the Egyptian gallery....(1)

#MuseumsUnlocked Here’s a selection of beautiful stone axes and hammers (with a sneaky photobomb by a Bronze Age axe - more on that later) uncovered from around Gower (2)
#MuseumsUnlocked These beautiful examples of axeheads and flat axes date to the Chalcolithic/Early Bronze Age c. 2300-1600BCE. Again, all were uncovered from Abertawe, Gower and the Upper Abertawe Valley (3)
#MuseumsUnlocked forgot to mention the sword in the previous tweet. Probably mid-later BA (I’m not an expert, so please correct me if I’ve goofed on the dating, but do it kindly
). Here’s a gorgeous winged axe with a lovely socketed axe to the right (4)

#MuseumsUnlocked we’re coming into the home stretch. Here’s a stunning cinerary urn dating to approximately 5,000 years ago (mid-late Neolithic). Again, I’m not a pottery expert so please correct me if I’m wrong (but do it nicely
) (5)

#MuseumsUnlocked Finally, here are replica remains of the Red ‘Lady’ of Paviland. Excavated by William Buckland in 1823. Originally thought to be a Roman era female, subsequent dating has shown that this is a young man who died between 33-34,000 years ago. (6)
Thanks for joining me on this very brief visit to @swanseamuseum I hope you found it of interest. Am really looking forward to seeing other Welsh museums today. All the best, bye
