Zimbabwe Diaspora: The Tax Question!

I've seen nasty comments from Zimbos about the 65 diaspora citizens who demanded decent shelter. One that's recurring from 2013 constitution process is "DIASPORA DOESN'T PAY TAXES". It's a very ignorant conclusion, I'll explain why 1/n
So Fadzi receives $500 every month from sister in UK, the MTA deducts a fee. She buys medicine, food, school fees, data. All these attract VAT. The pharmacy uses some of the money to pay workers less PAYE, Aids Levy, NSSA paid to ZIMRA whom then gives the money to government 2/n
Now consider Fadzi & others send money to the tune of US$250 million every quarter, for comparison ZIMRA collects US$330 million over same period. However remittances go straight to citizen assistance not govt & a portion of the ZIMRA is diaspora remittances driven 3/n
For your ignorance hope this thread helps, for envy & comfort with bad living conditions it won't fix that. Diaspora do as much if not more per capita than most. If they demand water for 21 days doesn't it benefit students of the facility for many years? But your myopia 🤦‍♂️ 4/4
