This is Mayippadi Kottaram or palace of Kumbla kings of Kasaragod region. Kumbla Rajas were bridge between Malayali & Tulu cultures. They followed matrilineal system & married Keralite Nair women, while Tulu Brahmins married royal ladies following hypergamous Malayali custom.

They trace origin to king Mayuravarma who founded Kadamba dynasty and brought Brahmins to Kerala and Tulu Nadu from Ahichchatra.
